It was moving to learn about your passion for justice and your determination not to be silent in the face of abuse.
I also appreciated the guidance you share with us from the Holy Quran.
I couldn't help but wish that many, many more people had followed the example you set, clamoring for an end to the cruel economic warfare against Iraqis and trying to prevent the bombings and invasions.
Breaking silence seems especially important now. Each day, more children and families in Yemen face disease and starvation.
Here in the U.S. I wonder... If we could bring ourselves to look in the mirror and see how our governments caused child sacrifice and terrible suffering in Iraq, perhaps we could change. Maybe we could follow your brave steps.
"Speak clearly and pay up personally!" Daniel Berrigan, SJ liked to say this. You've done it.
Your truthful writing about the cruel and wrongheaded (actions in Iraq) while innocents suffered, and many died burns like a sturdy candle.
